Giving Thanks — Veterans Day 2024
As we observe Veterans Day, TSERA Special Police celebrates and honors those brave men and women who have served our country with unwavering dedication, courage, and sacrifice. This day is a reminder of the immense debt we owe to those who have chosen the uniform and answered the call to protect our freedoms and uphold the values we hold dear.
Veterans Day, as we know it today, was established in 1954 by an act of Congress. In the wake of World War II — the largest mobilization of U.S. forces in our nation’s history — and following the Korean War, Congress, with the support of veterans’ organizations, amended the original 1938 Armistice Day Act. By replacing “Armistice” with “Veterans,” Congress formally dedicated November 11th as a day to honor American veterans of all wars.
Later that year, President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first Veterans Day Proclamation, calling upon veterans, veteran organizations, and citizens nationwide to join in proper observance of this important day. More information about the history of Veterans Day is available through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
We recognize and appreciate the countless contributions of veterans from all branches of the military, each one having an essential role in safeguarding our nation. Their sacrifices, made both at home and abroad, reflect the very best of what it means to be an American. These selfless individuals have served with honor, placing their lives at risk to defend the ideals of freedom, democracy, and justice for all.
At TSERA Special Police, we are especially grateful for veterans within our own ranks. We are privileged to work alongside individuals whose service to the nation continues in their commitment to community and public safety. Their expertise, resilience, and integrity inspire us every day, setting a high standard for dedication and duty.
Today, we stand united in our gratitude, recognizing the sacrifices made not only by veterans but also by their families, who have shared in the challenges and uncertainties of military life. We will continue to support and show our appreciation to veterans in our communities, both today, and throughout the year.
To all veterans: We thank you for your service, your strength, and your courage. Your legacy is a testament to the enduring spirit of the United States, and we are deeply honored to celebrate you today and always.
Thank you for your service, and we wish you a happy Veterans Day.
May God bless our veterans, and may God protect our troops.
